Fear {Five Minute Friday}

This post is a part of Five Minute Friday, a writing flash mob that happens every week when writers are prompted by a single word to write for 5 minutes without any major editing. Just raw thoughts and emotions. You can find out more and/or join the party here.

Fear is the opposite of faith.

Did you hear that?  Fear is the opposite of faith. The two cannot exist in the same place.  This is not to say that if you have fear in one area of your life, that you are without faith in any area.  I believe you can be full of faith in say, knowing God will always take care of your financial needs, and at the very same time be fearful of being alone, without a spouse, forever.  That is actually exactly where I stand.  Those two areas are my biggest shows of fear and faith in my life.  I also believe that you can’t battle your fears if you keep them secret.  So give voice to them.  Grab some close friends and talk about it till it doesn’t seem so scary.  Also, shine the light of scripture on them.  I bet you they can’t stand up against God’s Word.

No matter what fears hold you captive, scripture holds the answer to defeat them, the truth that proves them false.

I have this picture in my head of a little girl with long brown hair whipping around her, screaming into a raging storm!  I couldn’t find a picture that matched the one in my head, but that’s what facing your fears feels like to me.  Can you see her?

Here’s to my fears and yours being defeated by the faith that carries us through, and to the hope that someday I will have the privilege of growing old with someone!

Godspeed,

Mollie  ❤

Meet {Five Minute Friday}

This post is a part of Five Minute Friday, a writing flash mob that happens every week when writers are prompted by a single word to write for 5 minutes without any major editing.  Just raw thoughts and emotions.  You can find out more and/or join the party here.

Do you ever think about all the millions and billions of people walking this Earth who you will never meet?

  I have always been a people watcher, but this is different from that.  Sometimes lately, when I’m out, when I’m sitting in a Starbucks watching people walk in and out, or walking down the grocery store isle past them, or even passing them on the road, I am struck by the sheer volume of people in this world who I will never know.  I wonder about their lives, about their families.  Do they know God?  Are they happy?  What does a day in their world look like?  If we met would we be friends?

Do you ever wonder about these things?  Or is it just me?

And sometimes I think, one decision made differently, 15 years back, and how would my life look different?  Who would I have met along the way, who I will never meet now on this life path that I’m on?

Just some things to ponder…  🙂

Godspeed,

Mollie  ❤

More: From Messes to Miracles {Review and Giveaway}

MORE_FNL_CVR

About the book:

People everywhere are looking for something more. They’re in the grocery store aisle behind you, in the nail chair beside you, singing praise songs in front of you, and perhaps in the mirror staring back at you. People feel messy; plagued by looming feelings of ineffectiveness, indifference, depression, and purposelessness.
Does this sound like you?
What if more of God is actually what’s missing from your life? Whether it’s a messy life or a messy problem, it can become a walking miracle when we see God anew and wholly surrender to Him.
You were made for more than surviving. Old stale religion never satisfies. Neither do the solutions the world has to offer. What all of us need is an encounter with God that sets our hearts ablaze. Tammie has seen this in her own life as well as in countless lives around her.  Join her in More for a picture of how you can move from a life marked by messes to one that is truly miraculous.

About the Author:

tammie_head--headshot Tammie Head will be the first to tell you that her life is a walking miracle.  God has taken her from utter depravity to living a life she never dreamed of.  Head’s desire for God is insatiable, and she cannot keep Him to herself.  The effect on others who come in contact with her is usually the same, Christians and non-Christians alike: they want to know God like she does.

My Thoughts:

As someone currently walking through a valley, trying desperately to find her way out; this book could not have come to me at a better time. Tammie takes those messy parts of life that nobody likes to talk about, the ones we would rather stuff in a box and put way, way back in the deepest corner of the closet, and she puts them on full display for all to see.  I applaud her for that.  It’s not an easy thing.  She truly is using her story for the glory of the one who made her.  I will warn you, this book will not leave you unchanged.  As I read my way through her story, it caused me to take pause and examine my own progress, whether I wanted to or not.  If you let it, this book will creep in find the dead parts of your faith and bring them to the light.  It will drive out superficial faith.  It will inspire change, but not only change, but a deeper joining to the spirit.  I will tell you, I want the kind of relationship Tammie shares with our God.  I am so thankful that God is never done.  He’s not done with Tammie, He’s not done with me and He’s not done with you either!

This book reads like Tammie is a friend sitting in your living room, telling you her story.  I bet she is an excellent speaker!

Love Inspired Series {Review and Giveaway}

love inspired

About the books:
The Love Inspired product line is a series of 6 books that are released every month & only have a shelf-life of one month.  This set of books is on sale April 21- May 28. PERFECT gifts for Mother’s Day (May 10).

My thoughts:

Warning!!!  Make sure you have ample time to sit and read for awhile before you pick one of these books up.  I promise you once you pick one up you won’t be able to put it down again.  I stayed up reading until I was struggling to keep one eye open so I could keep going!

I loved these books!  I fancy myself a hopeless romantic, so these were right up my alley.  These aren’t your typical romance novels.  They are thankfully missing any hint of graphic sex scenes, cheating spouses and couples who forge on without any regard for being married first.  But don’t worry, they are definitely lacking nothing in the emotion department.  They pull you in, wrapping you in a warm hug of sweat emotion, complete with all the internal battles and insecurities that flow through the female, and male, mind as we stand in the face of blooming love.  These are true love stories that leave you feeling hopeful.

I absolutely recommend the Love Inspired Series!  To get you started here is a coupon to save $1 on any Love Inspired purchase!

The giveaway:

I am thrilled that I get to offer one of my readers a chance to win all 6 books!  To enter click the link below and follow the prompts!  The giveaway runs until 11:59 PM on Friday May 8, 2015.  The winner will be chosen at random and displayed in the app as well as emailed.  Must have a valid email address to enter!

Hide {Five Minute Friday}

This post is a part of Five Minute Friday, a writing flash mob that happens every week when writers are prompted by a single word to write for 5 minutes without any major editing.  Just raw thoughts and emotions.  You can find out more and/or join the party here.

1– I know all about the urge to hide.  After the week I’ve had with my sweet little monsters, all I want to do is run away, throw the covers over my head, and hide.  But that’s just not an option as a parent.  And so I will solder on, finding rest and peace where I can.

2– Do you ever feel like hiding from God?  I know I do.  Some days I just feel like I don’t measure up to what I think He expects of me. (Did you catch that “I think“)?  Isn’t is great, even when we feel like it’s not, that we can’t truly hide from God.  No matter how far we run, or how we try to hide from Him, we can’t escape His presence.  He is always right there beside us waiting ever so patiently, so much more patiently than I wait on own kids, for us to turn around and begin to walk with Him again.  He will never abandon us.  He is always there!

3– Run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me! I’m the Gingerbread Man! –From my oldest son’s favorite book.  🙂

Take a moment and bask in that, God never leaves us, even when we leave Him.

Godspeed,

Mollie  ❤

Tomorrow {Five Minute Friday}

This post is a part of Five Minute Friday, a writing flash mob that happens every week when writers are prompted by a single word to write for 5 minutes without any major editing.  Just raw thoughts and emotions.  You can find out more and/or join the party here.

I am super late with my post this week…..oops!

Speak the word tomorrow, and plans and dreams come flooding into your mind’s eye.  Do you have a picture of your tomorrow in mind now?  Are you willing to budge any on that picture?  What if it never comes?  God promises us many things in His Word, but He never once promises us a tomorrow.  What if you realized you had run out of tomorrows?  Would your yesterdays and today seem like enough?  Of course the answer for most of us is no.

Thoughts like these always bring to mind my big brother.  One morning he woke up, told his wife what he wanted for breakfast, and when she came back upstairs to get him, he couldn’t move his arms or legs.  Off to the hospital and they discovered he had an aneurism in his brain step.  Surgery, brain surgery.  He never woke up.  I didn’t make it back from vacation in Hawaii in time to say goodbye.  That’s the short and sweet version, but as with many stories there is so much more that went on.

So, I urge you, as you plan for tomorrow, make sure you are living for today as well.  You never know when you, or someone you love will run out of tomorrows.

Godspeed,

Mollie  ❤

gMovies {review and giveaway}

I am always in search of something decent to watch.  Seems no matter what you pick, there is language, violence, sexual content or just flat out nudity in it.  You can’t even fully trust so called “kid’s shows” anymore.  Half the time when I am watching something after the kids are in bed I feel like it is necessary to turn it off when they inevitably get up again.  I was thrilled when I was recently given the opportunity to try out gMovies.

 gMovies

My thoughts:

At first glance, one of my favorite things about gMovies is that there is no need for parental control settings!!!  I know that may seem like a little thing, but let me tell you, there are just some shows that are considered “kid’s programming” that I just don’t want my kids watching.  With gMovies, I can leave my kids watching something and not have to come check ever so often  to make sure they haven’t switched to an inappropriate program.  There is a good selection to choose from, ranging from older shows and movies to newer ones.  I was pleased to see some favorites as well as some that I had never heard of before.
The one thing I found that I’m not crazy about is that gMovies is not yet able to stream onto the tv via gaming systems.  I don’t know about you, but my boys are 5 and 7 and I don’t like to leave them alone with my computer.  They get to arguing over what to watch and there goes the laptop into the floor.

But don’t take my word for it.  Click here and enter code FREETRIAL95 to try out gMovies for yourself, with a free 2 week trial.

FYI: The video player on the gMovies website is Adobe Flash Player based. You will just want to ensure that the web browser you are using to access is able to run the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. Also, to maintain the highest quality stream, please ensure your internet download speed is at least 3.0 Mbps.

The Giveaway:

I am pleased to have a chance to give away a 6 month subscription to gMovies to one of my readers!  Click the Raffelcopter link below and follow the directions to enter the giveaway.  The giveaway will run until 11:59PM on Friday April 24, 2015.  The winner will be chosen at random and displayed in the Rafflecopter app as well as emailed.  (Must have a valid email address to enter.)  A redemption code will be emailed to the winner once the giveaway has ended.
