Hide {Five Minute Friday}

This post is a part of Five Minute Friday, a writing flash mob that happens every week when writers are prompted by a single word to write for 5 minutes without any major editing.  Just raw thoughts and emotions.  You can find out more and/or join the party here.

1– I know all about the urge to hide.  After the week I’ve had with my sweet little monsters, all I want to do is run away, throw the covers over my head, and hide.  But that’s just not an option as a parent.  And so I will solder on, finding rest and peace where I can.

2– Do you ever feel like hiding from God?  I know I do.  Some days I just feel like I don’t measure up to what I think He expects of me. (Did you catch that “I think“)?  Isn’t is great, even when we feel like it’s not, that we can’t truly hide from God.  No matter how far we run, or how we try to hide from Him, we can’t escape His presence.  He is always right there beside us waiting ever so patiently, so much more patiently than I wait on own kids, for us to turn around and begin to walk with Him again.  He will never abandon us.  He is always there!

3– Run, run, as fast as you can, you can’t catch me! I’m the Gingerbread Man! –From my oldest son’s favorite book.  🙂

Take a moment and bask in that, God never leaves us, even when we leave Him.

Godspeed,

Mollie  ❤

Tomorrow {Five Minute Friday}

This post is a part of Five Minute Friday, a writing flash mob that happens every week when writers are prompted by a single word to write for 5 minutes without any major editing.  Just raw thoughts and emotions.  You can find out more and/or join the party here.

I am super late with my post this week…..oops!

Speak the word tomorrow, and plans and dreams come flooding into your mind’s eye.  Do you have a picture of your tomorrow in mind now?  Are you willing to budge any on that picture?  What if it never comes?  God promises us many things in His Word, but He never once promises us a tomorrow.  What if you realized you had run out of tomorrows?  Would your yesterdays and today seem like enough?  Of course the answer for most of us is no.

Thoughts like these always bring to mind my big brother.  One morning he woke up, told his wife what he wanted for breakfast, and when she came back upstairs to get him, he couldn’t move his arms or legs.  Off to the hospital and they discovered he had an aneurism in his brain step.  Surgery, brain surgery.  He never woke up.  I didn’t make it back from vacation in Hawaii in time to say goodbye.  That’s the short and sweet version, but as with many stories there is so much more that went on.

So, I urge you, as you plan for tomorrow, make sure you are living for today as well.  You never know when you, or someone you love will run out of tomorrows.

Godspeed,

Mollie  ❤

gMovies {review and giveaway}

I am always in search of something decent to watch.  Seems no matter what you pick, there is language, violence, sexual content or just flat out nudity in it.  You can’t even fully trust so called “kid’s shows” anymore.  Half the time when I am watching something after the kids are in bed I feel like it is necessary to turn it off when they inevitably get up again.  I was thrilled when I was recently given the opportunity to try out gMovies.

My thoughts:

At first glance, one of my favorite things about gMovies is that there is no need for parental control settings!!!  I know that may seem like a little thing, but let me tell you, there are just some shows that are considered “kid’s programming” that I just don’t want my kids watching.  With gMovies, I can leave my kids watching something and not have to come check ever so often  to make sure they haven’t switched to an inappropriate program.  There is a good selection to choose from, ranging from older shows and movies to newer ones.  I was pleased to see some favorites as well as some that I had never heard of before.
The one thing I found that I’m not crazy about is that gMovies is not yet able to stream onto the tv via gaming systems.  I don’t know about you, but my boys are 5 and 7 and I don’t like to leave them alone with my computer.  They get to arguing over what to watch and there goes the laptop into the floor.

But don’t take my word for it.  Click here and enter code FREETRIAL95 to try out gMovies for yourself, with a free 2 week trial.

FYI: The video player on the gMovies website is Adobe Flash Player based. You will just want to ensure that the web browser you are using to access is able to run the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. Also, to maintain the highest quality stream, please ensure your internet download speed is at least 3.0 Mbps.

Relief {Five Minute Friday}

This post is a part of Five Minute Friday, a writing flash mob that happens every week when writers are prompted by a single word to write for 5 minutes without any major editing.  Just raw thoughts and emotions.  You can find out more and/or join the party here.

Relief!  That feeling when the weight of the world suddenly lifts from your shoulders and you can breathe again.  That’s relief.  But how do you find relief when the storm clouds start to roll in and the darkness settles in to stay for awhile?

We were talking about one way on twitter tonight, girlfriend gatherings.  Grab some friends who you like to laugh with, who won’t be put off by those looming storm clouds, and let the healing salve of friendship smooth away those raw emotions and restore clear skies once again.

Other ways?  Get out of the house.  Sometimes a change of scenery is just what you need to adjust your mood.  Not an option?  No problem.  Crank the music up loud and have a dance party. (No it’s not weird if you do it by yourself.  😉 ) Indulge, just a little bit, in your favorite things.  Maybe you’re like me and you have a hard time remembering what those things that make you happy are while you’re in the middle of the storm clouds. Confession: I keep a list of those things that make my world a little brighter tucked away in the pages of my Bible, because sometimes I forget what they are.  If nothing else works, do something to make your kids laugh.  I dare you to maintain your mood while kids are laughing.  I Dare You.

What are some of the things that bring you relief when the storm clouds are settling in?

Godspeed,

Mollie  ❤
