Send {Five Minute Friday}

This post is a part of Five minute Friday, a writing flash mob that happens every week when writers are prompted by a single word to write for 5 minutes without any major editing. Just raw thoughts and emotions. You can find out more and/or join the party here.

Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see.

–Neil Postman

We send our children out into the world everyday as tiny reflections of the people that we are.  What are you reflecting to them for all the world to see?  Do you like what you see in the tiny homemade mirrors of their faces?  I can’t say that I am pleased with the legacy I am creating for this world.  They reflect my worst traits more than I care for.

I see myself in the tiny bursts of rage of my 6 year old.

I see myself in the crossed arms, set jaw, and dug in heels of my 5 year old.

My prayer for right now is that God would change my heart so that the people I am sending out into the world are kind, both in words and deeds, are generous, are loving and caring, and who shine His peace and patience into a dark world.  Most of all the, I want to send out men who love the Lord with all their hearts and who will walk with Him always.

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

–Proverbs 22:6

If you don’t like the image that you are reflecting into the world, change it.  My battle plan?  Reading my Bible, growing my prayer life, and learning to seek out those moments with the King.  Don’t forget fellowship.  We weren’t made to walk this world alone.  I am forever grateful for the online community God placed me in with all of you!

Godspeed,

Mollie  ❤
